Upcoming Events With Grace Church…

We wanted to share this with you on behalf of the Grace Church and the SOARly Needed R&R Events!

As we are preparing for a great SOARly Needed R&R for tomorrow night, we wanted to take a minute and share some very important news about SOAR with you.

First, God has been blessing SOAR in amazing ways, and we have experienced tremendous growth that has never slowed down! SOAR initially launched in September 2011, ministering to just three individuals with special needs at Grace Church. Today, just over four years later, God has blessed us and SOAR is now ministering to 444 individuals with special needs!

The primary purpose of SOAR is our weekend programming – providing buddies for our SOAR individuals in Grace Kids, Grace Students, and our SOAR Adult class. Our heart is to provide a place for families to be able to come and worship together, knowing their child with special needs will be cared for and included.

Our SOARly Needed R&R is another important tool to reach out and minister to our families and our community. We now have a good problem. We have broken all our processes because of our rate of growth. Therefore, after a considerable amount of prayer and discussion with our team, we are making the difficult call to cancel our February SOARly Needed R&R.

During this break, we will evaluate our processes and make adjustments for future growth. Our next R&R will be May 6 with a Star Wars theme. We are hoping to launch an online registration for both participants and volunteers. Our target date for this is March 1. We still plan on having our SOAR Special Needs Day Camp sponsored by Variety KC July 18-22. Registration for that will also open March 1st.

Another goal is to build volunteer teams to make the R&Rs run more effectively. And we need to ensure that all of our volunteers are fully trained prior to serving.

How can you help? Join us in praying for additional leaders. We also covet your prayers for wisdom and discernment! Our desire is to strengthen our weekends. We need many more individuals willing to be a buddy during our weekend services (Grace Kids, Grace Students, and our SOAR Adult class). We also have many behind the scenes areas in which to serve. We also desire to build volunteer teams for each part of the SOAR R&R night. We would like a person to lead each area and the volunteers needed to operate an R&R. We would also like to have multiple buddy team leaders to recruit and oversee our volunteer buddies. If you know someone who would be interested in learning more, please let us know!

SOAR is not going away! We are taking steps to get stronger and improve, so we can accomplish the vision that God has laid on our heart. We look forward to continuing to minister to your family, and we are always here for you! Thank you for being a part of SOAR, and we pray you will continue to SOAR with us! God bless
