Whether you are new to HCBS waiver services or changing FMS agents, we will make the transition an easy one for you!
As a Kansas Medicaid HCBS Waiver Participant, you have elected to self-direct your services, and act as the sole employer for your workers. We are here to support you as your Financial Management Services (FMS) provider. As an FMS provider we provide the following support services:
- Medicaid Billing
- Payroll processing for your workers (your employees)
- Information and Assistance in self-directing services
During the intake process, clients are introduced to our unique style in how we approach this business. This orientation involves learning about the history and mission of Helpers, Inc. and the policies and procedures of our agency. It is important to us to understand each client’s individual needs and concerns. Our goal is to make life better thru education and support to the client and their caregivers.
We contract with each of the Managed Care Organizations in the state of Kansas to bill Medicaid HCBS services. Those include:
- Aetna
- Sunflower State Health
- United Healthcare
We serve as the payroll agent for your workers. We distribute payments to your workers (your employees), withhold state and federal taxes on your behalf, and ensure worker’s compensation insurance is maintained for your employees. Additionally, we provide the W2 to your workers for tax purposes.
As a Participant in a self-directed waiver program, the client chooses who works in the home and is responsible for hiring and training, managing the schedule, supervising, and determining the course of action for performance issues, including terminating workers.
All caregiver paperwork must be signed and completed to the Helpers, Inc. before a worker ID number will be issued and before they can begin work. Without this paperwork, Helpers, Inc. cannot process payroll for your employees. Caregivers cannot be paid for time worked until all paperwork is complete, submitted and a worker ID number is issued.
