Special Olympics Opportunity In The KC Metro!

Special Olympics Opportunity! 

6 and 7yr. old children with Intellectual Disabilities are invited to participate in the KC Metro Track & Field Competition on Saturday, May 3^rdat Blue Valley Northwest HS (13260 Switzer).  Events for this age group will begin at 11:15am and should finish by 1:45pm.  We ask that you arrive at Blue Valley Northwest at 10:45am.  Please check-in at the table on the walkway as you enter the track stadium.  The table should be marked Young Athletes.  Athletes may participate in 3 activities:  Tennis Ball or Softball Throw, Standing Long Jump, 25 meter run. 

No registration forms will be needed for this event as it’s considered a demonstration.
Please e-mail Terri Price at [email protected] by April 28^th if you would like your child to participate.  Please include the child’s name and the parents name in the e-mail.  Due to time constraints we will need to limit participation to the first 50 Young Athletes.  In case of inclement weather please call the Special Olympics Kansas Cancellation Line: 913-236-9290 ext. 106 after 6:30am on May 3^rd.

This is an opportunity for children and parents to experience a Special Olympics event.  We expect 500+ Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and fans to attend the event so we understand if the event isn’t a good fit for every child.  Our plan is to provide lunch (hotdogs and chips) for parents and the Young Athlete.
