Special Needs Scouting Program Open House!

Scout Troop 11, Venturing Crew 2011, and Cub Pack 3011 are holding a Special Needs Scouting Program Open House on Sunday, September 18th from 5 PM to 7 PM. The purpose of this Open House is to introduce families and friends with a special needs boy or girl to our unique Scouting program, tailored for special needs kids.

Each of our units moves at a pace appropriate for and respective of our scouts. Rank advancements are earned while we enjoy the journey. A by-product of our Scouting program is our social network. Youth, parents, and siblings with similar circumstances can share life’s adventures and celebrate successes. We have developed strong bonds with the youth and the parents. And we have fun!

We meet monthly at Church of the Resurrection in Leawood. We have outings and we do weekend campouts twice a year. Many of our Scouts also go to a one week summer camp for special needs Scouts, held at the Rotary Camp facilities at Lake Jacomo in Lee’s Summit. That will also be the location for our Open House.

Food and fun will be provided at the Open House. The facilities are fully accessible. (And there are indoor restrooms!). See the attached flyer for directions and more details. We look forward to seeing you on the 18th!
