Topeka – Today Governor Brownback, Lt. Governor Colyer, and Sec. Moser announced that the $9.2 million added to the budget this year would be released now, as opposed to January 2014 when ID/DD long-term care services become a part of the KanCare program. Based on the administrations estimates, there will be an additional 250 additional people served on the DD HCBS waiver who have been waiting for upwards of 9-10 years for services. The delay in the release of this money was due to a budget priviso (or amendment) that tied the money to these services being under the KanCare program, which was offered by Represenative David Crum (Andover, KS).
